A Letter from the Owner
Having the privilege of working in an industry that I love, in an area so special to me and my family, makes every day a memorable one. I am proud to be a part of this wonderful community as the owner of DQ® at Kipling and Belleview.
Our Dairy Queen® restaurant opened back in 1983, just as the South Jeffco neighborhood was beginning to form. Today, we remain in our original location in the Safeway Shopping Center at the corner of Kipling and Belleview, maintaining our commitment to providing the neighborhood a favorite spot to share a good meal with good friends.
At DQ® at Kipling and Belleview, we live by good old American restaurant values – providing quality food at an affordable price, assuring that our guests are welcomed and treated as part of the family while dining with us. Our entire staff takes great pride in preparing freshly made food to order that we know is certain to become a favorite.
I thank you for making this Dairy Queen® Grill & Chill so special, and for allowing us to share our family’s pride and joy with you.
1928: A native of Colorado, Harry is born on the cusp of the Great Depression. Helping his uncle on a Colorado ranch, he learns how to make do with little and less, and his mountain-born-and-raised family shows him the value of hard work and an honest living.
1945: Harry enlists in the Army at 17 and trains for the occupation forces. He eventually finds his way to the US Army Ground Forces Band, where he plays his trumpet and earns the position of drum major. After his discharge, he uses his musical talents to go on the road as a musician, bringing smiles to town after town as people dance to his tunes.
1951: The first time Harry meets her, he tells her he is going to marry her. A year later, Harry marries the love of his life, Betty. Their exceptional marriage thrives today.
1953: Harry moves into the business world, seeing the value of a firm handshake and a smile as he travels the country and the world, ranging from Manhattan to Chicago to Mexico City and even as far as Japan to make a good deal for all involved. His pride in his reputation as an honest man who always follows through brings him much success as he climbs the corporate ladder.
1980: Hungering to be his own boss, Harry moves into the Dairy Queen® business, opening his first store. Working around the clock as he continues to put his work ethic into practice, he enjoys interacting with his customers and giving them the best products, prices, and service he possibly can.
Present: Now a decades-long veteran of the DQ® franchise, his daughter and grandson help Harry continue his pledge to provide good food at great prices for everyone who walks through his door. He particularly enjoys seeing families in the dining room, happy that he can bring a smile to everyone who comes in.
